Mindsets (Mindset Development)
Students will gain skills such as openness to learning, resilience, self-awareness, and success-oriented thinking. This course aims to build a strong foundation for both academic and social life.
The 12 essential mindsets
The module is built on a simple idea: most problems are not solved by thinking harder, but by thinking differently. Students learn to recognise which way of thinking a situation calls for, and then to switch into it deliberately. Each mindset comes with a definition students can apply at home, at school and with friends.
- Systems — understanding how different elements interact within a system
- Analytical — breaking down complex problems logically
- Growth — believing in continuous learning and improvement
- Resilient — bouncing back from challenges and failures
- Creative — thinking outside the box and generating innovative solutions
- Strategic — planning and executing ideas effectively
- Positive — maintaining an optimistic and solution-focused attitude
- Global — thinking beyond personal and cultural boundaries
- Collaborative — working effectively with others to achieve shared goals
- Reflective — continuously evaluating and learning from experiences
- Adaptive — adjusting to new situations with flexibility
- Problem-solving — tackling challenges with a proactive approach
The purpose-driven project
The module closes with a purpose-driven project guided by a coach. Working in small groups of three to five, students identify a shared purpose that matters to them, design a project that reflects it, develop an action plan, carry the project out in a real-world setting, and reflect on what they learned. The point is to turn a mindset into something students use, not just something they know about.
