Short answer: the original data graphics on this site may be reproduced free of charge, in any medium, provided you credit Ecole Schools visibly and link back to the page you took the chart from. Nothing else on the site is covered by this permission.

What this covers

It covers the original charts we draw ourselves from published sector research — the tuition distribution, student-origin, facility, founder-profile, grading and school-choice-landscape graphics that appear in our microschool guides. Each of those images carries its data source inside the image itself, so the credit travels with the file.

It does not cover our logo, photographs, page text, or any third-party material.

The terms

  1. Credit visibly. Name Ecole Schools in or beside the image, caption or credits.
  2. Link back to the page you took the chart from, or to ecoleschools.org.
  3. Do not alter the data. You may resize or re-crop for layout; you may not change the numbers, remove the embedded source line, or present the chart as showing something it does not.
  4. Check the underlying source. Our charts cite the research they are drawn from. If you are republishing the figures as fact, read the original study — and note that sector counts vary between studies.
  5. Other uses: for anything outside these terms, including commercial redistribution of the images on their own, contact us.

All rights not granted above are reserved. We may update these terms; the version on this page at the time you use an image is the one that applies.

Why we publish the charts this way

Sector data about microschools is scattered across research reports, and most of it is never charted. We draw the charts because founders need to see the distribution, not a single average — and we let others reuse them because a chart that travels with its source line attached does more good in circulation than locked up. The numbers behind them are on our microschool statistics page, with every source named.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an Ecole Schools chart in an article?

Yes, if you credit Ecole Schools visibly and link back to the page you took it from, and you do not alter the data.

No. If you follow the terms on this page, no separate permission is needed. For any other use, contact us.

Can I change the chart colours or crop it?

You may resize or re-crop for layout, but you may not change the numbers or remove the source line embedded in the image.

Does this cover photographs and text on the site?

No. This permission covers only the original data graphics. Photographs, the logo, page text and third-party material are not included.
